Teen Arrested Following Shocking Stabbing of Three Horses at Las Vegas Event

A harrowing episode unfolded at a barrel racing competition hosted at South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, leading to the arrest of a teenage girl. After a distressing incident involving the stabbing of three horses which left them severely injured, authorities apprehended the suspect.

The emergency line buzzed early morning with a distress call alerting authorities about an incident of an injured horse at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. The behemoth equestrian facility, stationed near the Las Vegas Strip, found itself in the throes of an unanticipated case of animal cruelty.

Upon their arrival, officers were faced with a far more grim scenario than initially reported. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department disclosed that not one, but three horses had been stabbed, leading to serious injuries.

The investigative team from the animal cruelty division zeroed in on a potential suspect, a 17-year-old girl. As per the information available, she had clearance to access the barn area.

In line with police records, the girl now faces 12 charges of deliberate or malicious act leading to the slaughtering, maiming or torturing of an animal. Additionally, she has been hit with three charges of felony malicious destruction of private property amounting to over $5,000.

The injured horses received immediate medical aid, saving them from life-threatening injuries. While full recovery is projected, their ability to participate in upcoming competitions has been severely compromised.

This brutal incident has tremored the animal-loving community, leaving them breathless and searching for answers. The National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) responded to the event, clarifying it as a singular incident. They ensured they have taken all necessary measures for the safety of the competing horses.

Offering additional details, the NBHA revealed an astonishing fact – the accused herself was an event competitor.

In an official statement the association said, “During the early morning hours of Saturday, the 2026 NBHA Professional’s Choice Vegas Super Show held at the South Point Casino experienced an isolated incident. A limited number of equine athletes were subjected to maltreatment by an event competitor.”

No Threat Looming

The statement issued by NBHA concluded by assuring that the suspect has been apprehended and handed over to the authorities, eliminating any persisting threat. The association also appealed for understanding and respect for everyone involved in this sensitive situation.
